Mom’s Chocolate Square Recipe

 0.50 lb butter (2 sticks)
 1 tsp vanilla
 1 cup brown sugar
 1 egg yolk
 2 cups flour
 0.50 cup chopped walnuts
 1 large Hershey bar (the baking size... might take 2 or 3 today, this is an old recipe)

preheat oven to 350F

Cream butter and sugar

beat egg yolk and vanilla into cream

slowly add flour and beat until well blended, dough will be very stiff.

spread dough in a thin layer in a jelly roll pan

bake at 350 for 20 - 25 minutes

while baking, melt chocolate.

when the dough is done, spread chocolate over the top of the baked dough, and sprinkle with chopped nuts

while still hot, cut into bars and remove from the pan to cool.   Bars may need to be refrigerated to get the chocolate to set.
